Chestnut Hill Park

Stamford, Connecticut

Chestnut Hill Park is a family friendly neighborhood park located at 354 Chestnut Hill Road in Stamford whose aged playground equipment was slated for replacement. The planned playground renovation included incorporating three separate play areas to accommodate toddlers, and 2-5 and 5-12 year aged children.

The play areas are linked via a curved walkway, connecting the play areas to an existing pavilion, picnic areas and other sections of the park.  An important goal of the walkway design included protecting the park's beauty and ambiance provided by the mature shade trees located throughout the 6.6 lightly wooded acreage.

Working with the City of Stamford, Aris Land Studio provided the master plan and construction documents to renovate the play area, improve the pedestrian circulation, and address eroding stream bank areas. Debra De Vries-Dalton was the landscape designer, working with Aris Stalis on the project from schematic plans through creation of the master plan during her time at Aris Land Studio.
